Which One of Two Lovers Did I Like Better and Why?

I've noticed when I read love stories that it can vary book to book which of two lovers comes across more strongly to me.  This interests me because it's such a subtle thing.  Sometimes the viewpoint character comes across more strongly.  Sometimes one of the lovers is not as appealing as the other because of his actions over the course of the novel.  Sometimes the viewpoint character doesn't come across as strongly as the character that he is observing.

So I came up with a character-analysis based on some of the books I've been reading. Rest assured that when I say I prefer one character over the other, it is in all cases by just by a slight amount and does not reflect badly on the second character.  I'll be adding to this table as I read books in the future.

The Bonds of Love (Matt and Vic)  My favorite:  Vic.  Matt is appealing, but Vic is a fascinating mixture of contradictions.

Channeling Morpheus series (Michael and Bill).  My favorite:  "Wild" Bill who's just so colorful!

Deviations Submission: (Tobias and Noah).  My favorite:  Noah because he has a playful side to him.

Falling (Alec and Christian).  My favorite:  Alec because he seemed more vulnerable.  Christian already knew the rules of this particular universe, but Alec still had to learn everything.

Fall of the Kings - see Swordspoint

The Filly (Ethan and Travis).  My favorite:  Ethan because he's such an endearing kid:  innocent, brave, and good-natured. Plus Travis couldn't find the courage in five years even to visit Ethan? Say it isn't so!

Gadarene (Galen and Wira).  My favorite:  Galen is hot, but Wira is really special.  He's a complex mixture of male and female traits.

The Huntsmen:  Bareback (Brian and Joe).  My favorite:  Joe because he had all the colorful lines and he made me laugh.  Brian was very appealing as well.

Interstitial (Jati, or Seb and North).  My favorite: probably Jati, the most likable, though all three are interesting.

L. A. Heat (David and Chris).  My favorite:  David for his combination of patience, curiosity, and compassion.

The Phoenix (Kit and Nick).  My favorite:  Nick is very appealing with his patience and strength, but Kit is definitely my favorite:  mercurial, brilliant, tough, and sophisticated.

Psycop Novels (Vic and Jacob).  My favorite:  Vic because that comic anxiety of his is really special!

Stepping Up to the Plate (Stacy and Darian).  My favorite:  Stacy even though Darian is very appealing; Stacy is the viewpoint and we see more of him:  smart, funny, rebellious, and flirtatious.

Swordspoint (Alec and Richard).  My favorite:  Alec because he had more complexity as a character plus more potential for humor.

The Tin Star (Ethan and Jamie).  My favorite:  A tough choice because they're both so joyful and appealing, but probably Ethan for his emotional maturity and steadiness.

Whistling in the Dark (Jack and Sutton).  My favorite:  This is tough because they're both so appealing!  Probably Sutton just by the barest margin; the story starts with him and so I really got attached to him.
